Updated primary web server; Now running Apache 2.2.4-r10 and PHP 5.2.3-r3 amongst others. Didn't see any errors on test server but keep an eye out just in case
2007-07-20 02:07:15
The account/profile management interface is now back up and fully functional with a few new features. We apologize that it's a little past due and hope it wasn too much of an inconvenience
2007-07-20 00:02:34
The Mentalcases account management/user settings interface is now going offline for updating and testing until further notice. You will be notified when service is re-established (within two hours)
2007-07-19 18:20:00
The user account management interfaces will be going offline tonight at around 12am (EST). This slight interruption is to modify the part of the database that maintains user settings, add a few new configurable settings to that particular interface and perform proper testing to assure proper functionality of these modifications. Similar maintenance will be performed throughout the week on all of the configuration interfaces around the same time of day. You will be notified before and after each procedure.

We apologize for the interuption and thank you for your patience

Aside from a few minor bugs we are currently ironing out, the "New and Improved!" message board system is fully functional
2007-05-16 12:39:00
The message boards are not working properly at the moment because we are currently migrating our message board system to a new platform. Our new message board system will have greatly enhanced performance and stability as well as add a lot of new features. Sorry for any inconvenience, it will be back up ASAP

Network upgrade was successful :). We now have a new server at our disposal (Intel Celeron D 2.13GHz) and have upgraded the primary server by doubling it's RAM, adding a 120GB Western Digital SATA hard disk and a new power supply and CPU cooler to help improve performance and stability.
2006-03-11 02:30:00
Tomorrow we are performing an extensive network upgrade, so some of our services might experience intermittent, short, disconnects. We will do our best to keep you informed of any status changes as they occur. Upon completion, the vast improvements in speed and performance should quickly outweigh any annoyance caused by the slight service interruption. Thanks for your support and patience

Server relocation to North Carolina has been delayed until June, however it was temporarily transferred to a local facility earlier today. Everything went smoothly and seems to be working fine. We apologize for any brief disconnect times.

The Mentalcases network is about to undergo a server relocation around January 10, 2005 which may result in some downtime, however we intend to minimize this as much as possible. We will try to minimize any trouble this causes and have everything up and running smoothly in a matter of hours (if it goes down at all).

We are pleased to announce the addition of a new Tor SSL-tunneled proxy service to help add an extra layer of security and anonymity for all of our account holders at no additional charge. Documentation on using the proxy for various services shall be forthcoming soon

Due to a few minor power outtages earlier today, our site was offline for a couple of hours all together. We apologize for the inconvenience and are taking precautions to help ensure it won't happen again.

Doubled the amount of memory in the new server. Also added SpamAssassin and ClamAV for use with webmail and mail hosting services. New webmail solution is in the works.

Updated the Documentation section. Plenty of howtos regarding a plethora of Unix/Linux related subjects.

We now have a new web/shell host. As of today it is fully functional, online and ready for service. It is an AMD64 2800+ on an Asus K8S-MX and currently uses 256MB of DDR400 (soon to be upgraded to 1GB) and running Gentoo Linux. We are thusfar quite impressed with it's performance and stability and hope that you are as well.

Due to some hardware problems with one of the DB servers that occurred while I was on vacation, the boards are currently down. All posts were recently backed up and the boards should be functional again shortly.

A few days ago I was invited to irc.indymedia.org. I found it pretty interesting and, as one who is sympathetic with their cause, I decided to link them to here and become a regular on their irc server to show my support. I encourage you all to do the same.

Good news! Looks like the secondary server LAN is almost completely back up. There are still some hardware issues with the name server, but we hope they will be rectified soon. In the mean time the current shell/web server will replace it.

Well, I finally managed to get things up to speed, at least for the time being, and finished the database migration. The bug in Firefox seems to be confined to that version, a quick upgrade fixed it, and the Windows port of the same version of Firefox seemed unaffected. I am also working out some bugs with the auth system and trying to layout some of the pages a bit differently. Also working on logo & colors (as always) and so if you feel you want to contribute something, feel free to contact us (admin@mentalcases.net).

Currently we are in the process of migrating the MySQL Max-DB server to revolution and backing up data for an OS upgrade on lysergic. We feel that spreading out the load a little will help make things easier on the main server.
Also, due to financial difficulties, there may be some slight connectivity problems in the next (and last) few days. Please be patient and we will soon have it covered hopefully. If you are willing to help in this regard, please feel free to donate some $$!!

I've finally managed to make some progress around here recently, despite outside influences by the "real world". Apache 2 with HTTPS is now up and fully functional... although it seems to freeze my Firefox browser for some reason (Netscape and Mozilla still seem to work fine). I also somehow managed to get Slackware 10.0 installed and configured on the backup server without the help of a cd burner or floppy disks!

Back to square one. Migrating everything to new location & equipment.Everything currently down except DNS and Web Services (just installed). Should have everything done in a couple of days.
2004-03-06 05:26:00
Authentication system is almost complete. Just a few minor debugging issues. Once this is complete, users with paypal accounts will be able to register an account and have many services activated almost immediately.

Got MySQL up and running, working on secure kernel for shell server now.
